leaves are evil.. especially when there are a ton of them. what did we ever do to them? we're just walking to our own destination, minding our own business, making no eye contact to any thing but the ground.. and here these leaves are flying around and basically smacking themselves into our faces. why do they hate us? are they mad? i think they should hate the trees! the trees are the ones who don't want them anymore! we try not to get into anyone's way, so can they please leave us alone? please? please?
i learned that when squirrels die, their two front teeth turn orange. but dead woodpeckers have pearly whites. wow. what do squirrels do in their life time to make their teeth turn orange at death (btw, squirrels are smart and evil.. just like mice)? either way, how those facts are going to help me with any of my three tests (pharmacology, pathophysiology, and medical/surgical) before thanksgiving, i have no idea.. =(
i wonder what it means when you can micturate for 2 minutes straight. no interruptions. just one long continuous flow. no, not frequent uresis.. but simply those every two hour (q2h), regular intervals of urination. it can't be a good thing.
is wearing slings the "in" thing to do now? i THINK my professor injured his arm because it was in the sling one day, but there was no cast. two days later his arm is out of the sling but he's still wearing it around his shoulders and waist! five days later he's wearing the same sling but still not using it for it's sole purpose. okay maybe there's no sole purpose anymore.. but i'm very curious to see what is up. it's really an important matter because it's distracts me from learning and listening to him lecture. seriously, i need to know!

i don't like titles. why do we have to come up with titles for these things.
2 more conversations:
1) TERRIBLE
me: i want an even number of children. i want 4 children.
jared: what if you accidentally had a 5th one? would you have to have a 6th one?
daniel t-"cluck" lau: you should sell it. but wait till it gets a little older, it'll be worth more if it can hold a gun.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.
2) clinical at the VA Medical Center
weird old man: i just have to say, what is a 16 year old doing here in the VA? are you a doctor?
me: heh heh.. no i'm a nursing student.
weird old man: well you're a very good looking 16 year old nursing student. keep up the good work!
HELP, MOMMY!
apparently your brain uses up about 20-30% of the oxygen of your total body consumption. it simply uses up .10 of a calorie per minute, but 1.5 calories while you're studying. this makes me happy to know that those long hours in the library do not go to waste (well maybe it does)! that each minute of studying is another calorie burned! be motivated. there is hope. let those calories burn.
SHOOT. i just saw another mouse in andy and dan's apartment! i'm telling you, they coming for revenge!!
when i think about my middle school days, teeny boppers, dingly key chains, and distorted grammar (lyk, haiii! wussup? how r u? lyk omg, i miss ya and luv ya! muahzzz!! ~~xoxoxox~~ >.<) come to mind. you might think i'm going to shake my head at them, but in actuality, i think their language is quite effective for text messaging! for example, i have 160 characters to use for one text. if i go over, i automatically start a new text. it doesn't matter if it's 161 or 162 characters, i will be charged for 2 text messages. so in attempt to save those precious 10 cents that could be used in case of emergency, i was able to transform a 203 character text to exactly 160. here's the new message: wen u're dun lets go 2 costco & buy da rest of da stuff. den 2 da lib? hav a gr8 time w/ ur parents! & do u hav my list of dings 2 buy? ha dun u luv my grammar. other than the fact that almost every other word is underlined in red, i was able to send this message (and the last line!) with only one text. it was a great feeling. i feel quite proud. thank you teeny bopper days. =)

conversations
i'm not very good with updating blogs but did you know that colored socks may cause tinea pedis, also known as athlete's foot? that makes me sad considering i have 30+ pairs of colored socks. (costco rocks!) it's something about the dye causes the fungal infection. that's all i know because i don't feel like looking into this more, but you can if you want. and if anyone doubts my sources, there's proof right here in my medical/surgical success book for nursing. you can take a look, but i'm not telling lies about fungal infections just to make people wear white colored socks! (but that would be a good way to scare people into doing things..)
so i still use andy and dan's toilet since the mouse incident. i honestly think that one day the mouse is going to shoot out the toilet while someone is occupying it. he is going to take revenge for all the torture that he was put through. or she. WATCH OUT.
i have been busy.. really busy. but instead of easily spreading out the last month of my life like melted butter, here are a few conversations that may show ya'll how its been:
1) a random e-mail
hey denice,
so i was looking at my gmail, and i see this email from you, and then i look a the advertisements above and it says "http://www.myplussizebra.com/ -D, DD, DDD, E, F, G, H, I, J, K Style Starts with the Plus Size Bra" that just made me laugh cause i was just like.. what the heck?
2) another e-mail
Hi Denise,
Would you consider a co-op blah blah blah..
3) and another e-mail
Dear Danice,
I have reviewed your resume and suggest you apply online at our website, http://www.chsd.org/, for blah blah blah..
4) during class
me: i think his [our pharm professor] pants are about to fall off
caroline: i'm glad this is what we pay attention to in class
5) studying the night before an exam
liner305: alright i feel like i should start to study
i have strong feelings that i should
me: how strong are they
liner305: now if only i convince my arms to lift the notebook, turn the page and my eyes to look at the words
and my head to stay awake
we'd be in business
thats a lot to ask though
me: wow that is a lot
liner305: it really is
me: i will be really proud of you if you get to it
liner305: its on my lap
respiratory... is it on the test?
me: yup
liner305: so what are you telling me GI cardio and resp?
me: cardio and resp
liner305: did we already test on GI
wow am i taking this class??
me: you are so funny
liner305: denice this is sad... i honestly do not remember being tested on GI...
liner305: seriously... it was on the test??
me: now i'm doubting whether we did or not
liner305: KaTyDiD491: im looking for GI in a study guide
KaTyDiD491: we did GI on the second exam
Liner305: fascinating
me: haha good to know
6) something else that's random
da: did i ever tell you what i think of your blog's web address?
me: what
da: everytime i see the link, i'm reminded of fake emails from chinese "business"
"Hi friend. How are you today? My name is Zhen Zong. I am principal manager for major clothing manufacturer in Goungzhou. I would like to extend business proposal to you"
so if you didn't get it from the conversations above, my life has been filled with co-op searching and "studying." maybe that's why i haven't posted in a while.. this is sad. lets go do something fun! who is up for tandem bikes!?!?! please? or having a bubble party????

our apartment is so ghetto
how are people able to talk through the stalls in a public bathroom? and not just a simple question and answer, but full on conversations. anyway..
Dear Ms. CG,
Dear Ms. CG,
Please do not make me wait anymore to see what type of NEW, FUN, and EXCITING gum you recently bought. Not only have you boggled my mind with all the different possibilities of what this potential gum may be, you have also stopped me from working on my teaching plan that's due soon. If I don't finish my teaching plan then I will fail clinical! If I fail clinical then I will have to repeat Adult Community again. If I have to repeat that class, omgosh, who knows what will happen. THINGS WILL GO CRAAAAAAAAZY and I will bring you down with me! And all because you have me desperately wanting to know what type of gum you bought. I know you are nice so please tell me what type of gum you bought. =) Please oh please, I almost beg you.
Sincerely,
Your Biggest Gum Fan
Sincerely,
Your Biggest Gum Fan
i love making lists. love love love. i make lists for many things: things to do for the day, week and future, things to buy, things to fix, things to do in my spare time, books to read, and so forth. here is another list: our apartment is so ghetto.
1) the fire alarm doesn't work (we know this because it use to beep at us all the time. andy says that it's a warning to let us know it's low on battery, but we don't care to change it)
2) the bathroom switch flips down to turn on the light and up to turn off the light
3) we only have duck tape to hang everything up, so you already know that makes everything look ghetto
4) cracks are everywhere on the walls and floor..
5) the door to jenny and my room does not close all the way
6) neither does our closet
7) the apt door has four huge dead bolts but only one works. of course it has to be the lowest one and you have to squat to lock/unlock that one
8) the floor creaks where ever you step. it's inevitable
9) our floor is slanted. at this very moment my chair is rolling away from my desk but jenny has it even worse
10) oh and the elevator looks like it'll swallow you and bring you to hell
it has been quite the experience, living here. we've already blown a fuse x3 and all in the same night! but this place will always be better than douglass park. why? because there are no mice! but then again, i've only been here for a month..
on a different topic, mcdonalds is playing the monopoly game again! who wants to join forces with jenny and me? come on, we will dominate!

drowning rats
powerade had this line of drinks called power zero and i love the flavor mixed berry. why? because we have SO MUCH in common.
lets review our similarities:
::i like foods and drinks low in calories and power zero mixed berry has the lowest amount of calories possible-ZERO!
::i also like foods and drinks that are sweet and power zero mixed berry is deliciously sweet
::we both like the clear blue color
::i like things that have a good grip and power zero mixed berry has a handy grip mechanism
::it's called power zero and that's what i'm expecting for my grade on my pharmacology exam (maybe)!
okay, so maybe we don't have that many similarities.. but that's how i felt coming out of my pharmacology exam-- powerless and zero. waaaahhh! dang you, power zero!
if you could, how would you kill a rat? today, andy told me that dan caught a rat and drowned it in the toilet. not only do i never want to use that toilet again (located at Douglass Park, Apt. 412 to save you all who would have a toilet-ing experience there), i also wondered, why soap water? please dan, enlighten us:
"generally the idea is.. uh.. i put, you're typing exactly what i'm saying?? i put conditioner around the edge of the tub so if the mouse tries to climb up, it will slip down. i opened up my bag and pulled out each piece of clothing, with a glove of course, shook each one to make sure the mouse wasn't in it, and then andy looked in and saw a TERRIFIED little mouse in the corner. poor thing. and so we took the bag and dumped everything upside down into the tub and out fell the mouse. and when it hit the water it started swimming back and forth the tub. oh we took "a trash bucket," not mine of course, and scooped it out of the water.. and for a while it was swimming and when it was in the bucket i was thinking back to the analogy of cheese.. of milk? no wait, butter? i don't know what it is. what the heck? you're writing everything i'm saying? so i was thinking about cheese.. no wait it wasn't cheese, it was cream, and two mice (please erase all my stuttering).. and two mice were swimming.. WAIT no no that was a different analogy. i think it was one mice. no wait.. that was a different analogy. so one mouse is kicking really hard. actually no. both mice are fighting for their lives. but one gives up while the cream is still liquidy and drowns. stupid mouse. dumb mouse. the other mouse keeps kicking and after a while it turns into butter, or coagulated milk, and crawls its way out. but unfortunately for this mouse there's no cream in the tub. so the mouse was swimming actively and then suddenly stopped. andy said it was just hibernating so we poured out all the water. grabbed chopsticks to pick it up. and then andy picked it up by it's slimy tail. he tried a few times.. and then yea just dropped it in the toilet."
"did it flush well?" "yeah it flushed well." "why soap water?" "because it's slippery."
as much as i dislike mice, i kind of feel sorry for this one. never would i want my torturers to be andy and dan. jenny says she would have done the same thing. if you are applauding them for their terrible actions, you can ask dan for some of their torture pictures and videos. yes, they have pictures AND videos.

my child's name is sundial
if you haven't noticed already, this blog is suppose to be about the random occasions in my life. spontaneous things happen but i don't seem to remember them. naturally, i'll recall significant events so this will help me to remember everything else!
if your keyboard is roasting, one way to make it cooler is by defrosting your chicken (or beef or whatever wrapped meat you choose) on top. make sure you put something in between the meat and keyboard to save the keyboard from getting wet but can also allow the heat through. it's like killing 2 birds with one stone. cooling your overheated computer and defrosting for dinner! but then who would want to kill a bird? minnie would. she thinks birds are evil.
jenny and i are sad. some maintenance guy thought it would be nice to replace our super cool ducky and polka dot shower curtain (aka our window curtain for our room) with some really good looking, clean, white shades. who would do such an act! hmph

how do i start this thing?
this blog was created about one or two months ago and this is my first attempt to post. right now, all i have to say is that Northeastern's nursing class of '10 is so limited on time for studying that we've resorted to completing our assignments during any "spare" moment of the day. this includes taping up* our lecture notes outside the shower doors so that we can read while we clean ourselves, reading the textbook while we carry out our other ADLs dooodies, carrying our pocket books/notes during clinical so while loitering we can pull them out to memorize at least one more concept, playing med-surg hangman and then teaching the concepts to each other while waiting for our instructors, reading books from other people outside of our class on acute and chronic renal failure, interrupting casual conversation to ask about lab values, studying for two classes at the same time, studying for one class while in another and so forth. i wonder if there are other ways to utilize our time to the fullest.. hm..
i can't wait for this week to be over!
